The New Alexa Devices in Store

According to the latest tech news, Amazon is planning on launching some of these products later in September at an event. This may not be the first time Amazon has tried branching out into the home appliance sector, but with Amazon Echo’s incredible sales, it is sure to leave an impact on the global market.

Their objective is to create a smart home environment that is easily accessible. Some products will have Alexa already built-in, while the others will be compatible with Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana and Google Assistant. It is not specified that they will come under Amazon’s Echo, so this may be a separate line that focuses on branding just Alexa.

The new devices include a microwave oven, amplifier, receiver, subwoofer, and an in-car gadget. This also marks Amazon’s entry into the appliance market. They are planning on releasing at least eight new products by the end of this year, all of which will be Alexa powered.

Alexa’s Entry into Home Development Technology

The launch of these products only furthers Amazon’s aim to make Alexa voice assistant ubiquitous. The main focus area is where people spend most of their time, which is either their homes or in their cars.

After starting out as nothing more than a geeky experiment, Alexa has become one of the most popular voice assistants available to us today.  This can potentially be a strike against Sonos and GE, both already established companies that are also Alexa-compatible.

Earlier this year, Amazon acquired Ring, the smart doorbell maker, which also works with Alexa. This shows their key and direct interest in creating connected homes. By partnering with smart home installation companies, Alexa can be more readily available in more homes.

As Jeff Bezos mentioned in a statement in July, “We want customers to be able to use Alexa wherever they are. There are now tens of thousands of developers across more than 150 countries building new devices using the Alexa Voice Service, and the number of Alexa-enabled devices has more than tripled in the past year”.

Amazon can become quite the formidable competitor after its entry into the home appliance sector. There is a constantly increasing dependency being created with regular updates in voice assistant technology, and Alexa is doing its best to capitalize on that market. Alexa has the power to intimidate even the industry giants, such as LG, Samsung and GE.
