While internet penetration has increased considerably around the world, there is a myriad of challenges linked with it.

Regulatory laws pertaining to privacy, data protection, and security continue to pose different shades of problems in different countries.

VPNs have become increasingly popular in many countries due to the wide number of benefits. Besides, VPN also allows users to view specific pieces of content which are only available in certain countries on Netflix and similar platforms.

Although VPNs are illegal in many nations across the globe, there are a lot of countries that have backed their use.

As internet users continue to look for new solutions to solve their problems related to privacy, VPNs have emerged as a viable option.

What is a VPN?

A virtual private network (VPN) is basically a service that connects your computer to a new network. For example, a lot of companies have a private network or intranet which can be only used by employees who are on-location.

A VPN creates a secure connection by rerouting that link to a specific location.

In addition, VPNs enable you to safeguard your identity and data and protect you from online attacks. If you want to keep yourself protected from online advertisers and remain anonymous on public Wi-Fi networks, you should get a VPN.

There is another reason why a lot of iPhone and iPad users love VPNs as they appear in various geographical locations. This is especially useful for users who are looking for access to content that is not available in their home country.

But how can you use a VPN on your iPad and iPhone?

Step 1: Starting out

The first step is to find a VPN that will suit your needs. The best VPNs for iPhones also work well for Mac and the iPad.

Some of the top recommended services for your Apple devices include NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and Surfshark.

Quite often, the prices of VPN services go down, so keep an eye out for discounts so that you do not pay the full price.

Step 2: Setting it up

When you subscribe to a VPN, you can use it across multiple devices at the same time, and not necessarily the iPad or iPhone.

VPN applications are available for macOS, Android, Windows, and other streaming devices.

You need to install the application on your phone. Then, you need to register an account and sign in.

Once you sign in, the application will ask for permission to add a VPN configuration to your phone. Hit the “Allow” to configure the VPN on your device automatically.

Next, you will be asked to enter your password, Face ID, or Touch ID to allow you to change your VPN settings. Once you enter the passcode, activate the Face/Touch ID.

Now that the VPN is enabled, you can choose to connect to it at any time without opening the application again.

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings from the Home screen
  2. Press General
  3. Choose the VPN of your choice if you have more than one VPN on your phone
  4. Turn on the Status of the VPN

Once you finish using the VPN, you can follow the same instructions to switch off the VPN. Do not forget to turn it off especially if you are using the free or the limited plan.
