Nexon Asia Pacific announced that it will be acquiring an Australian cloud and managed IT services provider, GCOMM. Queensland-based GCOMM provides its clients with cutting-edge technology solutions in the field of security, telephony and cloud. The acquisition of GCOMM’s clients, network infrastructure and engineering staff will help in boosting Sydney-headquartered Nexon’s position in Perth, Darwin and the Gold Coast.

The IT market in Australia is expected to experience a hike in 2020, according to Gartner’s latest predictions. In 2020, the research company expects total spendings on IT services and products to increase by 5.7% from 2019, which will be around $99.63 billion. By 2021, Gartner expects the industry spendings to increase by 3.5% to $103.17 billion [1].

The acquisition will help expand Nexon APAC’s geographical presence and footprint through which it will offer its services to new customers across Australia. To support its accelerated-growth strategy, Nexon will expand GCOMM’s wholesale partner program in the country. It will also add more services to its offering, such as voice-enabled Microsoft 365 and SD-WAN for its wholesale customers.

Peter Thompson, CEO of GCOMM, said they are excited to team up with Nexon. He adds that Nexon brings operational and strategic depth to GCOMM along with an opportunity to take customer engagement to the next level. Barry Assaf, Chief Executive of Nexon, believes GCOMM to be an innovative business with high employee and customer tenure. He says this acquisition will strengthen Nexon’s position, offerings and current capabilities.
