French multinational IT and consulting firm Capgemini has announced that it is ready to acquire Australian system integrator Empired. Headquartered in Perth, Empired has an army of over 1000 professionals in Australia and New Zealand. 

The IT services and consulting giant announced this acquisition deal today (19th July 2021) and now is awaiting shareholder approval. Once given the greenlight, Capgemini will pay Empired AU$233 million.

The acquisition of Capgemini is expected to close in mid-November, subject to approval. This deal will add $188 million to Capgemini’s revenue in the ANZ region.

Capgemini on acquiring Empired

Capgemini Asia Pacific CEO, Mr Olaf Pietschner said that the extensive transformation expertise of Capgemini combined with the strengths as a leader in Microsoft Azure and Dynamics 365 in Empired will open up the full power of digital transformation for Capgemini’s clients in the ANZ region.

The deal will help them run their entire business in the cloud as well as realize value faster. Pietschner and the entire Capgemini team is looking forward to welcoming them on board.

Moreover, Capgemini Managing Director A/NZ, Kaylene O’Brien says that the acquisition will help in positioning Capgemini as the market leader in digital, cloud and data in the region. 

Empired Managing Director, Mr Russell Baskerville said that joining forces with the French player will provide them with outstanding career opportunities for its people and also have a positive impact for prospective and existing clients by giving them access to resources, service capabilities and global experience of Capgemini.

Empired – Australia’s trusted consulting group

Established in the year 1999, Australia-based Empired provides expert consulting in the area of cloud and data implementations as well as managed services to back the ever-evolving digital transformation strategies of its clients.

The company majorly focuses on Microsoft technology and is known largely for its end-to-end expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Azure.

The deal with Empired will be Capgemini’s 4th in Australia in the last 18 months and will additionally provide the France-listed group a boost in the New Zealand market. In New Zealand, Empired has offices in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin. The company generates about one third of its business in New Zealand.

In Australia, apart from Perth, Empired has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. In 2021, Empired is expecting EBIDTA to generate an estimated AU$22 million in revenue of approximately AU$186 million.
