Australian buy now, pay later leader Afterpay announced that it has made its services available at 13 major retailers to enable customers to leverage the option of delayed payment options at the time of shopping.

The list includes the largest, most popular brands in the United States, including Target, Amazon, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, Yet, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Dell, Nike, Macy’s, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.

As online shopping boomed during the pandemic, more and more consumers than ever have turned towards digital payment options.

With the lockdown over the world lifting and physical stores reopening, people are still looking for online tools for making flexible payments as e-commerce continues to grow in demand, with sales made online going up by 39% in Q1 of the year 2021 year-over-year, according to Afterpay.

Afterpay inks deal with 13 major brands

Afterpay says the service will be available only through its app. The service at the moment will be made available to the fintech’s select customers. They’ll be able to shop at merchants by simply picking their favorite brand in the Afterpay Shop Directory and paying with Afterpay. Customers will be able to enjoy the same benefits of using Afterpay, which includes the ability to pay in installments without having to pay interest or any other finance charges.

General Manager of Afterpay North America, Zahir Khoja said that over the course of the past year, people relied largely on online shopping for the things they needed during the lockdown. But, as the world celebrates the physical re-opening of stores, customers still want the flexibility and convenience of buying with a click as part of their ‘new normal’.

He further adds that Afterpay is thrilled to continue its support of customers by enabling them to shop every day at their favorite brands with Afterpay for items they want and need in their lives.
